Hair, Veil and Headpieces

elvish hair

Elvish Hair:

  • Long and flowing, possibly with intricate braids.

Elvish Headpieces:

  • Beaded Headdresses & Hair Jewelry; Headbands (metal or beaded), wreaths of flowers or leaves, delicate (not over the top) tiaras might also work well.

Elvish Veils:

  • Think long and flowing, not too poufy!

rosieHobbitish Hair:

  • Curls of any length are wonderful. No overly sophisticated updo’s.

Hobbitish Headpieces/Veils:

  • Wreaths of flowers appear to be the best and only choice! (IMHO)
  • For veils I don’t know that they are really necessary, but perhaps a small, shoulder-length veil could be attached at the back of the head.

rohirric hairRohirric Hair:

  • Long and flowing, or pulled up (a la Eowyn at Theodred's Funeral).

Rohirric Headpieces/Veils:

  • Headbands, wreaths of flowers or leaves, simple, medieval style (not over the top) tiaras might also work well. Natural polished semi-precious stones like Malachite, Lapis, Amber (no bugs inside!), Tiger Eye, Jade and Garnet might work well. Rhinestones don’t work well for a Rohirric wedding!

  • For veils, keep it very simple, perhaps in a medieval style of wearing a headband/circlet over a long veil. Perhaps there is no headdress at all, just a veil draped over the head.

gondorian hairGondorian Hair:

  • Elegant chignons are a good way to go!

Gondorian Headpieces/Veils:

  • Medieval style circlets work well. Precious gemstones like Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond, are perfect. Semi-precious gemstones such as Garnet and Amythest work, as well.
    Beaded hair jewelry.
  • For veils, keep it very simple, perhaps in a medieval style of wearing a headband/circlet over a long veil.
