Elvish Gown Styles:

  • Medieval inspired, but not overly fussy
  • Flowing and/or soft fabrics: Organza, velvet, organdy, silk, duchess satin, peau de soi, damask, lace, beaded and embroidered fabrics.

Hobbitish Gown Styles:

  • 18th-19th century inspired designs. Corsets
  • Renaissance peasant designs, to some degree
  • Fabrics: velvet, velveteen, silk, eyelet, lace, cotton, wool, linen. Certain printed fabric may work as well – paisley, tartan plaids, tiny stripes for example. Simply embroidered fabrics could be great, too! Smocking is good. Soft leather in moderation could work as well.
  • Use of ribbons also seems really appropriate for a hobbit wedding.

Rohirric Gown Styles:

  • Medieval inspired
  • Heavier, more “solid” fabrics
  • Judicious use of ornate pattern works well (Balance it with simplicity else where)
  • Fabrics: Velvet, wool crepe, velveteen, duchess satin, damask, and embroidered fabrics. Even leather and fur!
